MEMORIAM FRED WK STOLZENBACH iff 2 ,- H, Ft There comes a time in the affairs of men when the shadows begin to lengthen and life's sunset deepens into purple night, when the dust retums to the earth as it was, and the spirit unto God who gave it. There comes a moment when we leap from the potter's clay and scale the battlements of time and eternity. It is the zero hour that comes to all of us, the inevitable moment when we must give up everything we possess except those things we give away in service to humanity. These things are returned to us in that hour of awe and multiplied. The inevitable moment came to our friend, a master in his profession and an active member of our faculty on Monday, July 30, 1962. He had a passion for public and private duty which we may well emulate for the betterment and enrichment of ourselves. He worked hard, loved and laughed often. He always had a voice vibrant with gladness for every noble sentiment and a song ringing with approval for every worthy deed. In memory of his good works and as a token of our esteem, we, of the Genevan, bow our heads in silent meditation and in the majesty of this silence, we breathe a prayer of comfort for his family and for the advancement of those things, for and to which, he gave his life so generously. 8

is g ffl L. J Bakari Mwanjoha John Nganga FRICAN SCHOL RSHIP PROGRAM For the past two years it has been the privilege of Geneva College to share its educational program and traditions with two African students. In turn these students, Bakari Mwanjoha from Tanganyika and John Nganga from Kenya, have contributed their thoughts and opinions to our college and country. It was for this mutual benefit that the African scholarship program was orig- inated by the United States government. The effect of this program will no doubt become increasingly reciprocal as it is further developed. The program provides for an additional student from one of the African nations to attend Geneva each year. These students are chosen by a competitive exam. lt is an honor for both the student and the educational institute to be chosen. L51 1 'Q' A .1 Cru P 5 l -if ' ' f' 'Q , N , K -Q mfr, Kip, 1. .X , . The Reverend Mr. David M. Carson, Head of the Political Science Department of Geneva College, was selected and honored as Father of the Year during half time ceremonies at the annual Father's Day foot- ball game on October 26, 1962. A graduate of Geneva, Mr. Carson earned his Masters Degree at the University of Pennsylvania and was graduated from the Reformed Presbyterian The- ological Seminary. He became a member of the Ge- neva faculty in 1946. Mr. Carson is respected and admired by students and associates alike. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject matter covered, make his classes in- teresting, stimulating, and enjoyable. One is constantly anticipating examples of the well known Carson wit. Our Father of the Year is recognized as a real friend by all the students who know him. He shows a personal concern for their problems and is always will- ing to listen and to lend help in any way possible. FATHER OF THE YEAR
