dedication e mrs ianet downie 'H Does one need to cite in words why our charming personality pictured above holds our place of dedication? Where can one find such a loyal Geneva supporter with such an active interest in each one of her students and her affairs? Who can suggest one with a more rare and constant sense of humor? Who is more encouraging with her cheery smile and ready hello? When does one see a hat as individualistic yet so becoming because of its colorful flower? We of the yearbook staff feel no one can fill the bill like Aunt Janet. Her life alone would fill a book. Perhaps her special interest for foreign students comes from the fact that she herself was born and raised in Turkey. Her devotion to Geneva has been continual since her first acquaintance as a young woman and at present she serves as editor of Geneva's publication of The Alumnus. lt's not everyone who can stay as young in heart as our Aunt Janet and continue to serve and radiate ioy as she does upon our campus. For these and many other reasons we, the Junior class, wish to dedicate this year's yearbook to our beloved Mrs. Janet Downie. 9 E

'iff lle 9,. ' T., .L-1.. ' 'J: -, , Fi. 131 - l-1 - . .NN DR. LEE One of Geneva's most friendly adminis- trators is Dr. Edwin C. Clarke. Although Dr. Clarke's time is divided between his duties as vice-president of the College and as head of the Department of Business Administra- tion, he is never too busy to engage in a pleasant conversation to help students with their many problems. Those who come in contact with Dr. Clarke are immediately aware of his avid interest in Geneva. Proof of this interest can easily be found in the work Dr. Clarke has done in collecting funds for Memorial Hall, and in his presence at nearly all college functions. The requirements of a college president are as numerous as they are varied. Not only must the president be the leading repre- sentative of the college, but he must devote much of his time to the everyday problems which arise. The presidency is a position which requires sincerity, leadership, knowl- edge and determination. Geneva is indeed fortunate to have as its president Dr. Charles M. Lee, who embodies all of these charac- teristics, and whose high Christian ideals have won for him the friendship and respect of all Genevans. ln many ways, Dr. Lee is Geneva's good-will ambassador, and has done much to advance Geneva's standing as a Christian liberal arts college.
