'l'hey did practice teaching instead of waiting until their senior , 1 - - year. llie four-year currlcuhun brought about this change. Half of the class taught during the first semester while the other half attended classes. The situa- tion changed in January so that each member of the class had both teaching and classes. The Juniors had a busy year! Junior Volor Day had lo be moved up to January as that was the only month in which all the members were in Geneseo. The theme was built around a circus show, and many in the audience were completely sure that they were under Mr. liarnum's big tent. Flowns. animals. and strong men. the usual specialties found at a circus Wall were present on Janu- ary seventeenth. r 1 ' ' lhe Junior slipper had an nn- portant place in the year's pro- gram. It brought together all the members for the first time in the school year. Vonversalion was not lacking that evening. Junior Prom was a very unusual affair. Mother Goose and all her queer characters made all who at- tended feel that they were again turning the pages of that famous childhood book. Briefly. the Juniors enjoyed a busy year. and being busy. were successful. , E LE. is it liisiti fn vvpkffv SUPHUNIUHE ELASS l'lLI41AN0RANDRFIXVS . Ilomzwr J. To help them become oriented and to clear up any questions about what to do and not to do in Geneseo is the job of the lfreshman Counselors. The C'ounselors are usually outstanding sophomores who have contributed in various and effective ways to Geneseo life. These sophomores get in touch with the freslnnen who are in their charge some time before the fall session begins. Some- thing of our school life is told to them. lYhen the freshmen arrive a Vounselor usually gathers together his brood and takes them about the town and campus to acquaint them with their second home. The next day is spent in touring the school. Big brothers and sisters conduct the excursion. Talks are planned and given by the Vounselors to clarify the various functions of the school organizations. .X banquet is given as a grand finale with a style show to suggest appropriate dress for all occasions. The Vounselors' work, however, does not end here. Thereafter they are expected to assist their charges whenever necessary. lf it were not for the work of these Vounselors. the freshmen would find it much more difficult, to become an adjusted part of Geneseo life. luck IHINVZ l cl.slmn', Roach, llflfffllfffflll, .llr'f'111lghry, l4jfIlf'll, E. li'0g1'r.v, Idrcy, Dunn, ,Illl1I'l'II'N, Nmffh. sllicrmxn now: Hrrlzfrlyrr, lion-ns, l'uh1'll, Slrfpkrl, Vullfgfllrl, lilll7l.Ifl'N, K. lffsllcr, Kvrnx. lfIus'r now: ll'1'llcy, lfrlrlurr, .lol111.von, .ll1'll:'r, llnlrumlr, I. f'lcnn'ul.v, 56 'u-5, u - 0 ,J ' .Q ln ah. ,O 3, u, x I x S HUUSE PHESIUENTS' FEUEHATIUN.-f-Q . Rules are made to be brokenf, or so some people think. In Geneseo rfileisiare made to be kept. The House Presidents, Federation, together with Dr.'Harmoii and house mothers, enforces and regulates our rules regarding living conditions' in student houses. T ' ' Based on common sense, the regulations help students carry out good health habits. The 10:30,s', and lights-out', rules are really beneficial. If regulations are broken a report is made to Student Council, and changes in late permissions are adopted for that person. Each year improvements are made in resident houses. cl0lI1f0I'tELlllC furniture, special study lamps, adequate heating are necessities for all students. The lighting committee checks on wattage and makes suggestions for better lighting. After a few weeks a re-check is made to see that these suggestions are carried out. lYar conditions in Europe have stimulated girls to help tl1e suffering in some small way. Layettes are made. Knitting proves a valuable way of changing hours usually wasted into useful ones. Yes, rules are requisites. They help give us a feeling of one-ness of purpose and a pride in organization for the common good. luck now: l,ouyhl1'n, .'ll1fl'Iif',l, ll'un11r'll, 1,1llI'l'T, fllllllllllll, llvt1fS0ll, .llr1.vl1r'0, llnrgnn. lflfl1'r,.Sloc11ry4 Ilzflrqff, Kirin, Van 111' Mark, f'ruujforrl, .ll. NEW YORK April 25, 191.1 Mr. William Ross The DuBois Press Rochester, New York Dear Mr. Ross: It is spring! Accompanying the robins, the fresh new buds and the usual fever for the out-of-doors, there is an awareness that we are fast approaching the designated dead-line when our book must be ready to go to press. These last few days may be hectic onesg but we have had a great deal of fun building our book, and our hopes rise as we prophetically visualize the finished product. With our dreams and aspirations, appears our formulated goal to do our best to give to the students of Geneseo pride and satisfaction in their book. The members of the Normalian Staff of l9b1 are fully aware of their indebtedness to you and to The DuBois Press for your most hearty cooperation and wish to express their deep gratitude for your helpfulness. Sincerely yours NORMALIAN STAFF OF 19h1 Editor-in-Chief Business Manager 7g,.,.,.,g., 71-. 96 llere are convenient, modern shops that bring you choir-est fashions priced for every purse and person.
