51. L , 3, 2 fs - Q '1,Li?Ts,4: ,, .le sis Only rarely are we privileged to see a truly super athlete perform much less to know one personally. Fred Simmons has given us both opportunities. Awards have been numerous and well deserved. An all-County performer in basketball and football in each of these seasons, Fred received Athlete of the Year trophies for both sports and the gold helmet presentation as the best all around player. Many most valuable player awards grace his name. More than any of the foregoing, Fred has led his teams by his personal example of tireless practice and personal dedication. Unpublished statistics have been his: top rebounds, most assists, and best defensive performer. A quarterback who has called virtually all his own games and has provided the spark for his teammates in leading them to the first two football championships in General McLane's history. Throughout all of his achievements, Fred has remained unspoiled and never guilty of reading his own press releases. We of the '72 yearbook staff are proud to dedicate this page to Fred and wish him luck in all of his future achievements.
