PROPHECY C RS Kornmeyer stopped and gazed at the dlsplay wmdow of the largest department store m the c1ty of Glenfleld She knew she must enter sometlme and now was as good a tlme as ever The decorator f1x1ng the wtndow looked up Sure as could be he was john Borzon She entered the store and walked to the counter The saleslady asked lf she could help Yes answered Mrs Kornmeyer and asked for her usual order Pat McMahon COJ1dI'l t help her so she called the floorwalker He turned out to be Don Norton Don sa1d she had better go upstanrs and he would gladly glve her a pass Then she walked mto the elevator and wa?'ta'k'c-51 up by the elevator boy Ronme Corrlgan She found the receptlon room and the recept1on1st looked up when she saw the name on the pass Hello Mrs Kornmeyer sand Beverly Salmon Beverly endorsed the pass and sent Mrs Kornmeyer on her way to the offlce of the two vice presxdents They were none other than Ioan Van Nest and Lols Ramsey She knew these two would make out well ln the end Copy boy joe Szalach hurrled ln wlth the latest letters The salesmanager too came ln to make h1s dally report Hello Gllbert sa1d Mrs Kornmeyer She was pleased to f1nd Barbara Gaylord presldlng 1n the next offlce and dlscusslng a problem case It seemed there was money mlssmg from the treasury The treasurer denled all accusatlons made by h1s asslstant Phyllxs Emerson Phyllls related and I quote freely Dlrty pohtlcs alone gave Maynard Johnson the offlce of treasurer On the way to the next offlce Mrs Kornmeyer passed the typlsts room She waved hello to Gladys Barmak Laurena Lmck and Marle Young There seemed to be some thmg wrong ln the two l1ttle wheels offlce Photographer Rlchard Marmon and Press Agent Betty Pogozelskx were argumg over the last publlclty stunt Mary Lou Rudd capable saleswoman was statmg the results at the same tlme The two l1ttle wheels namely Rhone and Mezev endorsed Mrs Kornmeyers pass and she left as soon as you could say Judas Garryowen ' She then entered the masslve rooms of the two Blg Wheels Bob Sweeney and Ken Burdlck She found Ken engaged ln a playful game of tlck tack toe wlth thelr efflclent secretary Carol Walker The two Big Wheels sent Mrs Kornmeyer to the storeroom where she walked ln on a card game Cas usuall between Jack Flynn and Don Lenahan Flnally recelvmg the goods as she d1d every year she started down the hall Suddenly she was selzed by a plamclothesman who wanted to see her pass Nat urally 1t was Fred Norton jean Natson announced loudly she would defend her company through thlck and thm because she was the mouthplece At last Mrs Kornmeyer was on the street agam Every year for ten years now she had kept her Senlor Classes happy thanks to the Class of 52 and thelr wonderful 1nvent1on automatlc slmgshots She always knew these puplls would amount to somethmg or other ovfaov-aiwn 94 Mn.nu:Fa,c.1'u.vmq u. a-'two S Rxlifpf 19 ' o n '- if 72 . . , . , . , J ' ' ' Ill f u n I , I .
