HIS brief album is designed to supplement a fonner album, pub- lished in October, 1945, by the U.S.S. GEN. H. F. HODGES (AP-144). This supplement, together with the album proper, covers the entire period during which the ship was in commission: from 4pril, 1945, to May, 1946. Since last October, the ship has travelled to Karachi, India, and returned to New York with U. S. Army troops; and on her last cruise, she went to Calcutta, India, to embark more troops and returned to Seattle, Wash., thus completing her onl - cniise en- tirely around the world. The ship has had only one Commanding Officer while in commission as a U. S. Navy transport. He is Carl H. Hilton, Captain, U.S.C.G. HoUis M. Warner, Commander, U.S.C.G., also has served as E.xecutive Offi- cer the entire time the ship was in commis- sion. In addition to these officers, only eight of the original officers and one hun- dred twenty three of the commissioning crew remained attached to the ship at the time of decommissioning. Lieut. E. G. Hamilton, upon the detachment of Lieut. Comdr. H. R. Catherwood, became ship ' s navigator. New officers, attached to the ship since November, 1945, and who form a part of the decommissioning personnel, are pictured in this supplement. We regret that many members of the crew, attached and released since the albinn proper was published, cannot be included in this pic- torial record of the ship ' s acti ity. The album, together with this supple- ment, is presented to you with tlie compli- ments of the ship through its Welfare Fund, as a token appreciation and souvenir of vour service while vou served aboard her.
