This simple idea represents the basis of education. Knowledge is not enough. Vir- tue in action is the only measure of good- ness. This lies behind all that we have been trying to teach you. Your resistance to learning from your elders has grown over the years as you have coped with the chal- lenges of your life, but wishing that the world were a better place is not enough. You must act with love, with courage, with honesty, so that your life will count for something — no matter who you meet or what circumstances you find yourself in. First quarter's a float, second’s a drown, Your average goes up, your average goes down, And the grade rises, the grade falls.
