Text from Pages 1 - 280 of the 1976 volume:

You are a tribute to the American way of life. You are the most popular food in the nation; You have been boiled, baked, and bar-B-Q’d (What a way to go!) You have been topped with countless numbers of acces- sories which include onion, tomato, relish, and saurk- raut. You are a fast snack or a slow dinner. You have been inside almost every American. You have seen every world series and superbowl game ever played. If you have been around the Plymouth Plantation in 1620, we would be eating you in- stead of turkey on Thanks- giving. — Joel Ross DINAH | MOVIE OOUGLAS SHOW HftUN RffT ER ROGERS SUBE TELAYO 9JBE PCPA i NUP A YORK OiNAH Tennessee Ernie Ford Lonnie Chuck Wodwy. They are trampled on Or caught up in the whirlpools. Their remains are gathered up into lifeless piles. Once bright and splendid, they lie peacefully, Awaiting their doom. The trees are matchsticks Tall and stark. They stand shivering longing for the flames, That once made them feel so glorious. They could sense the nervous- ness in the air at the Old MacArthur coral. Who would be the prime cut meat and who would be the low grade? The bell sounded and each creature pushed his way to the center of the pen where the cowboys held the coveted slips of paper. Finally the tu- mult subsided and the sacred notices were distributed. Now Pedro could live at any farm his intelligent little heart desired — Hor- ned, Hen State, Pranceton, Dirt- mouth, the University of Transylva- nia, etcetera. We are surely the biggest and the best because we are not just like the rest. We’ve come a long way from then to now and sometimes we often wonder how. The time has come and gone so fast hut memories will linger on and last. Our minds and hearts will coincide and look on these days with pride. How will it feel to be alone out in the world and on your own. The way it seems now it may not be. The time will come and you will see. In later years when we are all gone we’ll have to remember our senior prom. All through the times to come and pass we’ll always remember we’re the class with class. We feel particularly close to this Senior Class because we have a great deal of time watching you grow both inside and outside of the classroom. The process is amazing, in spite of the problems involved in growing up, your ENTHUSIASM has helped you over most of the rough spots without very much hardship. You have impressed us with your hard work and ability to organize events, but we have been most impressed by your ability to do the most appropriate things at exactly the right time. All the good feelings that we have about your class come even more remarkably, at a time when most people are losing faith in the young. You must remember you have earned the right to feel special. We are very proud of you and you should be proud of yourselves. It has been a pleasure to have hopefully, been a part of the growth of such a fantastic group of individuals. Why is it that parents are always afraid? It is easier to say ‘I don’t know why ... Than to answer the boy With some knowledge and reason. It is always easier, always better. People have come to believe. To lie when the truth Is too hard to explain. — I-am a Rosenberg WE’D LIKE TO Miss Walsh for understanding. Our Friend John for making late afternoons a little bit easier to take. Mr. Freud for service above and be- yond the call of duty. Mr. O'Brien for putting up with us with a smile. 26 Security She surrounded her kittens with her soft, warm body care- ful not to smother them. It was good to feel them nursing and she longed to protect them forever. Sometimes she grew sore but they thought only of their hunger. When they became too frisky, she cuffed them gently, but it was only a matter of time before they would care for themselves. How- ever, one independent fellow scampered away from the nest to relish his first taste of freedom. She meowed to him but he ignored her. Hungry and cold, he shivered as dark- ness fell. Surviving by himself was harder than he had anticipated and he cried. Despairing, he glimpsed a famil- iar figure approaching. She carried him home by the scruff of the neck. As he snuggled against her, he thought that someday he might leave again but for then, he was content to remain. — Phyllis Giarretto dO SSVIO 1970 To AU 6u.t|5, rrvacie. ■VW'S ar suck fu.n.
