When I first arrived in Brownville, I was really surprised. My city, Matsuyama, is a small city in Japan, and located on Shikoku Island. But its population is about 300,000 people. Matsuyama is in the southern part of Japan. It is very cold in Brownville compared with my city. I have never experienced this cold weather. In Matsuyama the lowest temperature is about 30QF and the highest is about 95 degrees F. But, I think I am getting used to this weather little by little and now I am enioying snow and ice. My school is Matsuyama Senior High School. There are I500 students, and it was founded 92 years ago. I have no- ticed that the school life at General Brown is much different from that in my Japanese school. At school we have a uni- form. Girls are not allowed to wear make up. In Japan I was taking II subiects, but here I am taking only 5. I think the school work here is easier than in Japan except that I have problems in English. In Japan we have to go to school on Saturday, too. American students are very lucky. I am very glad to come here and to enioy my American life. Everybody is nice to me. I am always grateful to every- body. I shall never forget the great times I have had at G.B. Ryoko Nishida Q Kyoto 0 r is P Tokyo
