The school programs must not be forgotten For our part of the Natxonal Educatxon program both grades dressed m old fash1oned costumes sang I ve Got the Rheumatlz A choral reading Autumn Leaves was also glven The Chrxstmas tree whlch was gay wlth electrxc llghts and candles brxght colored balls and xcxcles was a source of dellght On the afternoon of December Z3 the exchange gifts were unwrapped and exeryone had a good tlme playmg wxth the toys and admlrlng the other guts The Halloween party and Valentme exchange were also happy occaslons Sxnce the begmmng of school several bn-thday part1es have been gmven by the mothers of chlldren having blrthdays These lzttle part1es are eagerly ant1c1 pated and fondly remembered These are a few of the hlgh hghts of the year GRADES FIVE AND SIX School opened w1th the followmg enrollment In the Flfth Grade Marllyn Poland Mary Lee Treat Fred Loseke Mary Beth Zlegelmeler Lester Haremza Sherman I-lopson Ronald Barnett Carol Kay Mullens and Dorreen Graham I the Sixth Grade Margaret Bradshaw Darlene Davls Davld McArthur and Bob We are makmg art panels to exh1b1t at the falr th1s year We decorated our room for Chrlstmas with Santa Claus posters and for Valentme wlth Valentmes that we made We celebrated Mary Lee s Davld s and Marxlyn s b1rthdays wxth blg blrth day cakes and frult salad Mrs Souders told us that she would not have a bxrth day this year we are not sure whether she meant she was skxppxng a bxrthday or not havmg one durmg the school year so she treated us wlth a Valentme Cake We also had a Valentme box and each one of us received many pretty Valentines For Scxence we planted flowermg beans whlch were just begmnmg to bloom when Old Man Wmter broke the electnc power lxnes and let jack Frost sllp mn and mp them We are glad to have the Travelmg Llbrary which has provlded us wlth a great many mterestmg books We all have been eager to get our noses mto them Two very mterestlng reports were glven to us Mary Beth v1s1ted over the Thanksglvxng holxdays at Saginaw Falls Texas She gave a very mterestxng report of her trlp and how Cotton IS raised and marketed Davld gave a report of a class rn Geography he vlsxted whlle at the State Teachers Conventxon at Hays 18 1 1 . n Saddlerg with Mrs. Clara Souders, our teacher, 1 J o g ,

GRADES ONE' AND TWO There are 16 enrolled rn the Fxrst and Second Grades School opened wlth begmners ready to begm therr venture ln educatron They are Gary Graham Loretta Hlgerd Sharon Hoppas Earl Treat Llnda Warner Patty Wolfe Judy Young and Margaret Zlegelmeler The Second Graders all boys are Marun Barnett jerry Dax IS john Flanagm Delbert Graham Larry Hwerd Roger Hopson Gary Saddler and Conme Skeers We took part ln the program for Natlonal Education Week We gave a play Our World and dramatlzed the song I.,1ttle Red Hen We also took part ln the Chr1stmas program We have enjoyed part1es at Halloween Chr1stmas and Valentines We celebrated many blrthdays by havlng partles Margaret Z1egelme1er spent Thanksglvmg vacatlon ln Texas She had many mterestmg thlngs to tell about her trlp Sctence we have had projects such as plantmg wheat and takmg care of plants We hope the rest of the year wlll be successful GRADES THREE AND FOUR Enrolled 1n the Thrrd Grade are Toby Skeers Hulda Haremza Verl Havlce Betty Haremza Katherme Treat Rebecca McArthur and Larry Burke In the Fourth Grade are Carol Hopson Evelynn Webb Vera Weese Ward Munkres Robert Davis and Ronme Hlgerd w1th Mrs Ohve Edle the teacher These are a llvely as well as a hard working group of children They enjoy play but are always eager to begin work when playtime is over The arm of every pupxl IS that all asslgnments shall be completed each day The art perlod IS a very enjoyable tune for all and some very commendable art work has been done The music class wlth Mrs Ethel McArthur as teacher 15 a very pleasant and dellghtful t1me for all Book report tune 15 enjoyed by everyone Short oral reports are glven on books that have been read and enjoyed Tlns stlmulates an apprecratlon for good books and creates mterest rn free readmg Each ch1ld places on the readmg table books whxch he thmks especrally good so that others may read and enjoy them 17 . . . . 8 E !
