Dear I 14 ig 5 Q l 21 'riiffiigf r 26 :Y ,X X za 5 'V October 1-2 3 Ili 4-5 5 10-11-12 12 17 18 19 24 26 Inari That time is here again. Yes, time to look over the past school year and re-live those precious moments. For instance ------- The first day of school. It was wonderful to see all our friends again. New teachers included: Mrs. Shirley Gretzinger, Mr. Terry Carnahan, Mr. James Mongeau, Mr. Donald Burnison, Mrs. Wahneita Wright. We played Cheboygan there and came out with a 13-8 win in our first game of the year. Our new coach is Mr. Burnison. Pellston was our first conference opponent and we won it 25-6 on the Pellston field. The classes elected class officers. Mike Mc Killop was elected senior president, Jon Strolle, 'unior president, Tim Morey was the sophomore choice with Judy Sz manski, James Kahler and Sharon Harford being elected president in the ninth, eighth and seventh grades, respectively. Boyne City's Ramblers defeated the Blue Devils 34-0. The Seniors had their pictures taken. Halo's were at a premium. Cheerleaders were elected with the varsity group consisting of Beverly Sutter, Margaret Hallenius, Pat Rolfes and Judy Norton. Reserve leaders were Marcy Fairbanks, Peg Carrick, Katie Norris, and Ruth Butcher. No school because the teachers attended institute. Mancelona's Ironmen tamed the Blue Devils on the gridiron by a 20-6 count. Everyone throughout the school except for the seniors was posing for individual pictures. Combs were very much in evidence. Yea, Blue Devils. The blue and gold boys trimmed Grayling on the Grayling field 45-0. Government Day in the Civic Auditorium for the Juniors and Seniors. Suppose they learned anything? A Visitor from the University of Michigan called on our school and later because of his visit our school was accredited for two years by the University. Those griclders from East Jordan just won't let us win. However, we came closer this year than any time in ten years. We led them 13-0 and saw them come back to tie the game on the next to the last pla of the game. We were disappointed but a 13-13 tie is better than a loss. So we settled. The Tafling trio put on an assembly for the high school. lt was nothing outstanding as assemblies come and go. Our big rival Charlevoix's football eleven did it again. Yes, we went down to a 19-6 loss with all three of their scores coming very close together on rapid breaks. Oh well, next year is another year TURN NOW TO PAGE 48 46 'H
