THE BITTER E ll It's over and your editor can assume that relaxed position in which you see her in that disasterous snapshot at the top of this page. Bitter, say? Not really when I think of it as a job well done and remember all the wonderful times my staff and myself have experienced getting out this 1956 Northern Echo for you. Would I do it all over again if I had the chance? You bet your sweet life I would. On this last page 1 am supposed to compliment my fine staff on the magnificent job they did. I have a strange feeling I will be running out of page. But in all seriousness I would go on for hours about the way every one took their share of the load and pitched in to make this book a reality. My thanks go to Shirley Guenther, my assistant, for the spirit she showed and all the help she has given me. She did her share and more without the least complaint and my thanks cannot be expressed in words. To Pat Harrison and Kay Ferris, our advertising managers, go two well- deserved pats on the back for the fine job they did etting the ads together for this book. It was a long hard struggle but they sid it. Kay also gets another pat on the back for all her work to keep the yearbook payments straight. I really appreciate all the time she spent on it. Our money mat- ters are enough to stump Einstein but our whizz of a treasurer, Sharon Bottomley, got them straightened around in a hurry and certainly did her job to the hi t. I know the girls have enjoyed doing this yearbook as much as I have and so I'll say, 'Thanks to you from all of us. The artwork in this book is a masterpiece and the praises go to Mrs. Herb Guenther who put many hours of hard work into it. She'll never know how much I appreciate it. Last but b no means least. That certainly sums up Mr. Smith who has been at ali, times the firm guiding hand behind the progress of this book. He has given me encouragement and showed that never-ending spirit which is so evident to all around him. The only words that can to mind are, thanks a million. I know there are many more who have helped to make this book what it is and I want them to know, even though they are not mentioned here, this book would not be if it were not for you. I know everyone who helped make this book a job well done will take pride in it and feel that you helped to make it what it is. Thanks again to all of you and to the students of G. H. S. , for my staff and myself, thanks for letting us do your 1956 Northern Echo. Your relaxed editor, Jo 68
