October 9.1981 marked the Ist. annual football home¬ coming at Gavit. Each class spent weeks in preparation and participated in the spirit week. At the pep assem¬ bly the varsity coach announced the 1981 Gavit Gladia¬ tor football team. The classes put on their skits, cheered and screamed, hoping that their class would win the Spirit Award. The cheerleaders announced Mr. Football as George Blummer. and Greg Sudicky was awarded the Sexiest Legs award. Later floats came to the school parking lot for the game. The fans filled the stands as 7:30 rolled around. At halftime the 1981 h ome¬ coming court was called onto the field. The court con¬ sisted of Dawn Boring. Danielle MacDonald. Leslie Sheetz. Tina Wright. Karen York and last year ' s queen. Rosemary Gracyzk. Then the special moment was about to happen as the speaker began to announce the Queen. This year ' s 1981-8 Homecoming Queen was Tina Wright. After all the girls and their escorts were seat¬ ed. the winners for best float and most spirit were announced. The class of ' 84 won best float, and the Senior Class for the 3nd consecutive year won most spirit.
