Glads Pursue Prosperity in Business World A wide variety of classes were offered at Gavit this year in the stenographic, clerical, and book¬ keeping fields of business. These courses of study trained able stu¬ dents to step right into the business world upon graduation. Stenography was offered to de¬ velop skills of students interested in a typing, stenographic, or sec¬ retarial position for a career. Speed and perfection were stressed in the four semester course of typing and the two semester course of short¬ hand. In transcription, a four semes¬ ter course, emphasis was on the rapid reading of the student’s own shorthand combined with the ad¬ vancement of his typing potency. The secretarial practice course en¬ abled the pupil to practice his sec¬ retarial skills to the organization and activities of a typical office. In bookkeeping, the basic essen¬ tials of bookkeeping concepts, term¬ inology, principles, and problems were among several general areas learned. Here, as in the stenograph¬ ic course, typing with the addition of office machines, general business, business law, business English, and various other business electives were also taught.
