This was The firsT year since 4979-80 The VarsiTy cheerleaders had a male cheerleader. He was Brian Hollen. They improved greaTly since The Spring TryouTs. This yeor's VarsiTy squad consisTed mainly of fresh faces. There were only Three veTeran cheerleaders re- Turning. They were Valerie Camdrigg, PaTTy Galloway, and Solly Hanson. Cheerleaders Show Spirit Although the underclass cheerleaders did not have as many girls per squad as in years past, their spirit still remains strong. The main reason for the small turnout was the result of the schedule the Gateway students had to follow. ln fact most of the sophomore squad was made up of fresh- man. The J.V. squad was composed of sopho- mores, this was due to the small turnout of girls at tryouts. All of the squads did exceptionally well at com- petition. The squads were dedicated and enthu- siastic. No matter how hard it was, they made it to practice every morning and their hard work paid off. The squads showed their spirit and pride at various sporting events. Including football, bas- ketball and soccer. At other games and meets cheerleaders could always be found some where cheering on the participants. These girls will make excellent squads in years to come. Sophomore Cheerleaders: Stephanie Gerber, Jenny Giehm, Lori Dibble, Stacy Arehart, Amy Stout. Tammy Olguin, Keri Pinkham, Dawn Cedervall, Lisa Harris. 64 Underclass Cheerleading
