was hard To relax before a performance. VarsiTy Pom Pans The VarsiTy Pom Pons have done overwhelmingly well This year in com- peTiTion, game performances and as a squad. WiTh five refurning poms, There was an adequaTe amounT of exper- ience To Turn The 48 girl-squad inTo champions. The year began wiTh co-capTains Sherri Jensen and BeTh LeTofsky. They led The squad Through pom camp in Esfes Park. There, The squad gained over fifTeen ribbons boTh as a squad and individually. Awards ranged from mosT spiriTed To besT kicks, To mosT poised To The one-hundred and Ten percenT award for Those who really Tried hard. Jr. BeTh LeTofsky won The honor of besT Pom aT camp. There were over T30 girls aT camp. So, The long hours of summer morning prac- Tices paid off. In addiTion, because The poms did so well aT camp They were inviTed To perform aT Aurora lvlall and aT a Denver Bears Baseball Game. For fooTball season, new capTains were eIecTed. Sr. Sherri Jenen was picked again, along wiTh Jr. Jill STram- pel. The squad performed To The songs Crack Me Up by Huey Lewis and The News, ThaT's WhaT l Like AbouT You by The RomanTics, Panama and Girl, You Really GoT Me Now by Van Halen and SaTurday NighT by EITon John. They also did a rouTine They learned aT camp To Super Freak by Rick James. Foofball season finally ended and iT was Time for new capTains again for baskeTball. Jr. Melissa Kerns and Sr. Shelley HuTchings were eIecTed. This was also The Time ThaT The poms sTarT- ed To geT ready for STaTe. Their sched- ule was very busy because The rou- Tines for girls and boys baskeTball games had To be made up, Too. Any- way, The squad did Their sTaTe rouTine To The Girl GeTs Around by Sammy Ha- gar. The compeTiTion was held aT Ara- pahoe High School. Finally, The poms helped wiTh pep assemblies and helped To raise spiriT around The school. Their sponsor was Sandy BleweTT. Sr. Jeri Boyd said, We all helped each oTher and worked real hard so we goT greaT resulTs. Sfrefching helped The poms have high kicks. AT The Homecoming game They performed To Panama.
