There's No EveryThing sTarTed aT The age of five or six. Our moThers dressed us up in brand new, uncomforTable cloThes. We were Told noT To geT dirTy and senT off on a school bus for our firsT day of school. Maybe iT was Wheeling, Virgin- ia CourT or some oTher elemenTary, buT neverTheless, This was only The be- ginning. LiTTle did we know ThaT we were in for approximaTely Three Thou- sand more days of school. Grade school wenT by fasT. ln sixTh grade we began To go To middle school. Many of us wenT To Aurora Hills, Maracek, NorTh, SouTh, EasT or WesT. AT This poinT, boys and girls sTill ran away from each oTher. By The eighTh grade, The girls began To noTice ThaT silly Joe Franklin wasn'T as silly as They ThoughT he was. ln facT, he was kind of cuTe. Anyway, The middle school days fi- nally ended. AlThough we had been The l'adulTs of The school in junior high, when we came To GaTeway we were quickly puT in our place, as freshmen. Because we were The babies of The school we became The unTouch- ables of a school wiTh abouT Two Thousand kids in iT. We were forced To push pennies wiTh our noses and sing Mary had a LiTTle Lamb on The lockers. This was iniTiaTion inTo high school, which wasn'T allowed buT no one wanTed To argue wiTh The 300 pound linebacking seniors. Luckily, ThaT only lasTed a couple of hours everyday be- cause The seniors goT ouT around noon and we didn'T sTarT school unTil almosT Ten. ' Our class officers were PresidenT Hei- di Lindemann, Vice PresidenT PaTTy Galloway, Treasurer Sherri Odom and SecreTary Debbie Gonzalez. Lori STrain and Greg Larmer won The honors of CounT and CounTess aT The firsT homecoming dance. The Theme was Legends . . . Always and Forever and The dance was held in GaTeway's commons. Finally a long year of agony ended and we became sophomores. We were able To walk wiTh our heads held high and we didn'T have To carry The seniors' books any To class anymore. We looked forward To The pep assem- blies because This year we knew whaT They were abouT. We could yell wiTh The besT of 'em. Our class officers were PresidenT Nick SmarT, Vice-PresidenT Lisa Robi- son, SecreTary Todd Garner and Trea- surer Tonya Sigler. Our homecoming floaT was builT aT The Vice-PresidenT's 140 Seniors STopping Us house and iT earned The award of MosT Colorful. The only problem was noT many people saw iT. IT was Too heavy To appear on The fooTball field. .Jerry Girkin and Lori STrain won The TiTle of Duke and Duchess aT The dance which was held on SepTember 25, 4982. OuTsTanding aThleTes such as Dar- rell Perkins, Heidi Lindemann, Tonya WalTers and oThers began To gain recogniTion This year. The Sophomore fooTball Team also Tied wiTh Cherry Creek as The CenTennial League Champs. ln our Third year of high school we became juniors. We were proud of The facT ThaT we were now upper- classmen. There were more responsi- biIiTies Than The year before. We sponsored The Prom. AlThough we had To reschedule The daTe and hoTel To have iT in abouT Three Times, offl- cers Heidi Lindemann, Lisa Norberg, Shelley Branham, and Tonya WalTers helped everyThing To go smooThly. CrediT goes To Bill OTT, MarTi Wagner and Larry Harder for Their exTra efforT in helping. This was also The year our class was spliT. Many of our juniors had To go To Rangeview High School which was newly builT. This cuT our class pracTi- cally in half. By The end of The year we ALL end- ed up aT Rangeview because of The discovery of asbesTos in GaTeway's roofing. Anyway, our homecoming and Prom Prince and Princess were Kirk Wilson and Dana McCorkle. AT lasT we became seniors. This was a year for fun and one ThaT we all would remember. AlThough we were sTill sTuck aT Rangeview, we hoped ThaT by March we would be home again. Our King and Queen for homecom- ing were Darrell Perkins and PaTTy Galloway. The class officers were PresidenT Kirk Wilson, Vice PresidenT Pam Galloway, SecreTary STeve Join- er, and Treasurer ScoTT Johnson. Our fooTball Team of only 26 play- ers was a good symbol of how sTrong our class could be. The Team man- aged To beaT The hardesT Team in The league, Cherry Creek, ThaT had abouT 80 players. GaTeway's class of 1985 had many many obsTacles To overcome, buT we managed, Too. We even survived having To go To school aT noon and geTTing ouT aT 6:15. As seniors, whaT could be worse? l IT jusT goes To show ThaT wiTh The righT will, friendship, TogeTherness, and goals ThaT There's No STopping Us! The Class of 'lQ85! The senior class officers were Treasurer Pam Galloway, President Kirk Wilson, Vice Preside ScoTT Johnson, and SecreTary STeve Joiner.
