TV shows, rock stars, and movies gave us our different beliefs and values. World events and political wars made us look at the more serious side of life. For instance, in l983 movies played a big part on our lives. Jenni- fer Beals starred in Flashdance, which was number I for a long time and began a new craze of fashion , I. with torn sweatshirts and baggy sweatpants as the basic look. Stay- ing Alive, Risky Business, and Na- tional Lampoons Vacation were all summer hits that continued in the fall. John Travolta and Olivia New- ton John were back again with an- f other hit, Two of a Kind. ln music, 3 the trend moved to more and more new wave, with videos being the most used way to see music. Mi- chael Jackson was tops, as his num- ber I album, Thriller, broke a world longest and having the most hit sin- gles on one album. The first world championship USFL game was played in Denvers Mile High Stadium, and the Michi- gan Panthers defeated the Cakland Invaders. Fall came along and the Broncos began another season. They had a young, new quarterback out of Stanford named John Elway.
