Y -ee -lil 4 4- 2 t Sr. Johnathon Jones walks to school on a cool November morning fs -Q 443' ' -Hung Y . ' , 'U :HU ,x 5 48, Q Fall was a time of many changes. Those cold mornings of getting up and going to school with a light frost on the ground were back again. Fall also meant homework and tests piling up as we got back into the swing of things. I think the best part of fall is getting back to school, and seeing old friends that you haven't seen during the summer , replied Sr. Lori Degenhardt. Along with the start of the new sports season came all the activities that go along with it such as after game dances, trips to Burger King, and parties with bonfires. Sr. Megan' Schuster said, Going to football games and to parties with my friends are some of my favorite weekend pastimes . The cold weath- er didn't seem to stop us from having a good time and alot of school spirit. Most of us looked for- ward to fall and the start of a new school year. Fall also was a time when we all went out to buy a new wardrobe. Short sleeves and sandals were not suitable anymore. Instead, sweaters and cords re- placed the tee-shirts and shorts. Between the last week of September and the first week of October the Aspens began turning up in the mountains. Fall was a time that we all looked forward to because of all the things it stood for. Fallen leaves on the ground was a sure sign fall was upon us, Student L ife 21

Prlde Shjnes CT zough Oly's pride shined through for Spirit Week, Oct. 3-8. To start the week off, Monday was T.V. Favorites Day. Many M A S'H stars, car- toon favorites, and rock stars could be seen roaming around. Tuesday, which was Punk Day, provided some odd looking people with hairspray dye, wild makeup and mini skirts. Many students showed up wearing black and white combina- tions on Wednesday, Generic Day. On the hot day of Thursday, towels, lawn chairs, Op sunwear, and suntan oil were brought and used for the students favorite day, which was Beach Bum Day. During the pep assembly on Friday, a sea or orange and gold clothes flooded the gym for Toga and School Color Day. Togas were a popular choice. seeing how our mascot was the Olympians. The traditional Homecoming festivity turned out to be a success. Some Gateway students proved they had pride for our school. The week would have been more successful if a larger percentage of the student body would have participated , said Mr. Valarie Camarigg. Spirit week was sponsored by the Spirit squads of Gateway, and was looked forward to by many students as a fun and favorite part of homecoming. ...K A K rg K 4 Sr s Dorothy Tatman Brenda Dalton and Debbie Strayer show they're no.
