The biggest problem the irls encountered was a lack of exper- ience among team members. With of the girls returning for next season they hope to become one of the top teams in the league. The Soph. Basketball season went better. lnexperience was once again a problem for the girls, but things improved throughout the season. For the first IO games the girls went 5 and 5 and in the last 6 went 5 and l. The girl's played very well through the sea- son and in the tournament. We fin- ished better than l expected. said head coach Sheri Colgan. Outstanding players were DeShawn Walker, Liz 'li' ts, keg . I We Played Very Well Through The Season l Frodhart, and Shelly Bet-ins. Many Freshman went out for basket- ball this year at Gateway. Four of them were moved up to the Sophomore team. Three others were placed on the JV team and two of them played on the Varsity. The Freshman team still had a pretty good season, coached by first year coach Sherri Albrect. One of the problems the team faced was practice times. Finally, the team settled on 'LI5-8:30 p.m. every evening at Aurora Hills Middle School. Games were played in the Gateway gym. Practicing in one gym and playing in another presented special home court problems. Team members included Laura Her- tle, Andie Allen, Amy Johnson Andrea Phua, Kim Triolo, Dawn Triolo, Rochelle Jackson, Kim Epps, and Pam Hoffing.
