Yet Season It was an interesting and challeng- ing experience, according to first year coach Jan Weeks. Even though the team struggled to a 3-7 league re- cord and a 4-I4 record overall After reaching the state playoffs last season everyone had high expec- tations for the Oly's, but as it turned out it was a year of rebuilding. With only five returning Seniors on the team they found experience for substitu- tions was one of their biggest prob- lems. Another problem that hurt in the later stages was the lack of discipline among some members which only caused problems for the coach and the other team members. The highlight of the season came as a win over Over- land in league play. Domination on the offensive boards by Tonya Walters and good team defense forced the Trailblazers to take bad shots from the outside. Standout players were Tonya Cordova, Kathy Sterns and Jrs. Lisa Norberg and the team's leading scorer Tonya Walters. Denise Wiggs, Sherry Eaglin, Kim Poole, and Kathryn Stearns were returning with Varsity exper- ience. After playing under last years head coach Pat Harrison, the Seniors found many differences this year. Juniors Tonya Walters and Lisa Nor- berg rounded out the returning Varsi- ty team which had past Varsity exper- ience. Walters, after coming off a good season, contributed her skill to the not-so-successful Oly's. The Olys iost 2 consecutive games by l point due to poor strategy. New additions this year were Deb- bie Davis, Wilma Abalos, and Taunya Cordova. The Olys still has a chance to make Districts but needed a win in the last game against Heritage and with the loss of standout Sherry Eaglin the Ea- gles were just too much for the Lady Olympians. With five returning players for next season the girls hope to turn their sea- son around. Members of the Varsity and Junior Varsity team agreed that this was a season in which they learned a great deal, we always had togetherness and played with team- work, replied coach Weeks on the season.
