I Vffjf PAUL TRIMMIER Ballinger, Texas CENTRAL TEXAS INSTITUTE Erected in the early 1880's, this building of four rooms—two upstairs and two downstairs—was first known as the Central Texas Institute. Because of this institute, the present school grounds and neighborhood were referred to as College Hill, and the street in the rear received its name College Street. Under the administration of Mr. Dan E. Graves as superintendent, a course of study was established: and in the spring of 1899—fifty years ago—Gatesville Public School announced its first graduates: Miss Tommie Lee Biggs and Mr. Paul Trimmier. TOMMIE LEE BIGGS (The late Mrs. Rebel John Brown, mother of Dr. John T. Brown and Bob Brown of Gatesville) C LASS OF 1899 This, the 1949 Crescent, is a book of memories, commemorating the Golden Anniversary of graduating classes of Gatesville High School—the graduating class of 1899 and the seniors of today. We feel that the class of 1899, the first graduates of Gatesville High School, cherished the memories of G. H. S. And these, my classmates, are your future memories; whether they be happy or sad, time will dull the sharp edges. To that 1899 class, who has fulfilled its future, and to the class of 1949, who yet has life ahead, we dedicate this Crescent. May it keep alive memories that will be dear for another fifty years.
