Do W, -AIL What determines a successful life? There is just one answer to this question. A man is a success or a failure according to the philosophy which he lives by. To know Mr. Frank L. Ashley is to know the above truth. Your editor was given the privilege of looking through Mr. Ashley’s personal files, and the following extracts are taken from clippings and statements which he filed during his years of educational experience. I lis students will always remember him in terms of the following: “Help us to see that it is better to fail in a cause that will ultimately succeed than to succeed in a cause that will ultimately fail.” ‘T he important thing is not to win but to take part; the important thing in life is not to have conquered but to have fought well . . .” “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” Mr. Ashley’s daily prayer has been: “We thank Thee, Heavenly Father, for boys and girls, for men and women who are interested in them, believe in them, and work with them; for minds that think and hands that work; for the responsibilities and obligations that go with the glory of American citizenship; for the dignity of labor and the miracle of living; for the privilege of har ing a small part in the doing of a job that means so much to so many, and in advance we pray for Thy guidance to the end that what we do and what we say many he in accordance with Thv Divine will. Amen.
