C. niPETEEn HUnDRED FORTY-ninE A quarter of a century has passed since Gastonia High School sent forth its first graduating class from this building. During these twenty- five years thousands of students have been molded into good citizens for their state and nation. This building has grown to be a symbol of the ideals of citizenship which have been taught here this quarter of a century. In recognizing this anniversary of our high school building the Senior Class wishes to emphasize the traditions of the past and express our hopes that they will be perpetuated and projected into the lives of those yet to come. At present there are in the nation approximately three thousand chapters which base their mem- bership upon scholarship, citizenship, leadership, and service. Any student who is elected to mem- bership in the local eight-year-old chapter must have made an average ot ninety or above on scholarship and citizenship, and must also have demonstrated four years of high school leadership and the willingness to serve.
