This first teaching engagement was made in 1020. His next two years were .spent at Rusk where he was principal of the elementary school and a coach in high .school. In the fall of 1929 he returned to Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College to complete work on his B.S. degree. Later V A degree from Sam Houston State Teachers College. NVhen Mr. Summers again accept- l l l principal. Ile found time to ipal and later as supermtencl- 't' in the four teacher Cen- he ohtained an i .. . g . . ed a teaching position, it was at Croveton, Texas, where he was hig 1 sc zoo coach the football team to a hi-district championship. First as coach and princ ent, Mr. Summers served in the Livingston Schools the twelve years preceding his acceptance of the superin- tendent's post at Caston. l l t take lone for Mr Summers to win a place in the hearts of the Caston student body and the smiling face and good citizenship, he- It c if no g . , people of the community. He has, through his .strong advocation of a . g come a molder of fine personalities at Gaston. Having a personality with the power of a lodestone, he makes friends wherever he goes. Mr. Summers i.s an active member of .several teachers and administrators associations of state and na- tional scope. Not limiting his activities to those in the educational field, he is a Hotarian and is a past pres- ident of that service club. Having a liking for .sports of all description, Mr. Summers spends a great deal of his leisure time on the golf course.
