The year of 1980 will be remembered by many of us as a year of uncertain- ty-uncertainty that shadowed every facet of our lives. There was great economic uncertainty, political uncer- tainty, with the presidential election be- ing up for grabs until the last moment, and perhaps the most frightening of all, tremendous uncertainty in our country's international relations. These are not pleasant, comfortable times, but times of challenge and deter- mined effort. As in all difficult situa- tions, we have a choice of being overwhelmed by these times or of asserting ourselves against whatever obstacles stand between us and our aspirations.
