The Campus of Gaston Technical Institute MECHANICAL and PRODUCTION The engineering technician refers to that category of supporting personnel which is most closely associated and related to the profession of engineering, both in employment and in education. The engineering technician, sometimes referred to as an engineering associate or engineering aide, requires a significant amount of manipulative skills but is primarily concerned with the application of mental skills for which the best preparation is collegiate-level instruction in mathematics, the physical sciences, communications, appropriate technical skills, and ap p r op r i a t e technical specialties. The Gaston Technical Institute has been in the fore- front of those institutions concerned with the development of accredited engineering technology programs of study for engineering technicians at the two-year technical junior college level. 2

There is a bright future for the The student in Electronics Engineering Tech- nology gains a thorough background in the basic studies and sciences, as well as the essential spe- cialized courses in electronics. The modern lab- oratory equipment provides a comprehensive sup- plement to class instruction. Upon graduation the Electronics major finds employment offered in manufacturing, production, sales, heating, inspection, and promotion of elec- tronics equipment. There are also great oppor- tunities found in building, installation, and main- tenance of electronic devices which are essential to industry. 4
