T H E E P O C H FREE THROW CONTEST g This year Gas City held something new, a free throw contest or a foul tossing contest. This contest was open to any boy or girl in high school. Several took advantage and entered the contest with the idea of winning the beautiful trophy given by the school. The contest was interesting and excit- ing. At the close of the contest Gail Atkinson, and .lohn Simpkins had tied for iirst place by pitching 30 out of 50 throws. The boys pitched off the tie, and -lohn Simpkins won over Atkinson by pitching 26 out of 50 against At- kinson's 21 out of 50. THE TIGER YEAR This year it seemed that the Tiger crew had the odds against them through all the season. Although the team suffered many defeats and won few victories, it is not a black mark on their slate of basketball. XYhen the Tiger crew came on the tloor to play. they fought through the whole game with the untiring effort to win. The fighting spirit is the thing that the people liked and wanted. All through the year our team fought for G. C. H. S. with manly sportsmanship and pride. Our coach worked very hard this year for a good team but on account of new material, the season was not so successful In summary of the year, we, the Senior Class, leave this prophecy to the under classmen and basketball fans, that next year our team will be one of the best, and least defeated teams in the whole county.
