T. O. G. Club, Basses: Harold Brevik, Alfred Nelson. Clarinets: Richard Lovaas, Ruth Peden, Corn-ets: John Banwarth, David Peden, Tromibones: Raymond En-g, Gus Van Steenberg. Baritone: Jo Ann Lalw. Flute: Joan Ann Mortensen. Drums: James Eng, Tom Law, Marcella Kennedy, Fred Sueverkruepp, Virginia Van Steeniberg, An organization at Gary High School this year with a secret name was T. O .G. Club. The -band members formed this club and spent their time practicing. Most of the meetings were in th-e evenings and were climaxed with the serving of lunch. The band members elected the following officers: Joan Ann Mortensen, president: Richard Loviaias, vice-presiclentg Raymond Eng, secretary-treasurer. The -band led the parade Tiger Day and played several numbers at the Gary Com- mercial C1ub's annual Farmers' Night. Several T. 0. G. members played in the county band at the County Basketball Tournament held at Astoria. Music Contest In spite of the fact that Garry did not have a hired music teacher this year, the school did have an active music department. Under the direction of Mrs. Reinecke, several students entered the State-Regional music contest at Milbank February 8th. The contestants and their ratings were as follows: Betty Sueverkruepp, Soprano-Fair. Joan Ann Mortensen, Mezzo-Soprano-Excellent. Joan Miller, Ciontralto-G00-d. Ruth Peden, Contralto-Excellent. David Peden, Trumpet-Good. Joan Ann Mortensen, Piano-Superior. Girls' Sextette, Vocal-Excellent. 17

Mrs. Reinecke directed the Girls' Chorus which was made up of seventeen girls picked by try-outs. The Girls' Chorus sang at P.T.A., Farmers' Night, and entered the Ensemble Music Contest at Watertown where they received a rating of Excellent. Girls' Sexiefie Left to right: Jeanne Sevverson, Betty Sueverkrueplii. Joan Miller, Joan Ann Morten- sen, Jo Ann Law, Ruth Peden. The Girls' Sextette made several appearances during the year. They sang at P.T.A, Farm-ers' Night, Tiger Roars. Basket Social, Baccalaureate, and Commencement. They entered the Music Contest at Milbank and received an Excellent rating. 16
