The Senior Class of 1944 Year after year, we've trod the path To and from our school. We've learned our readin' and writing' And learned to abide by the Golden Rule. To all our teachers, our hearts go out ln thanks for favors past. Our hearts are sad. though eager, As our school days are ending, at last. Dennie Penn, president and leader, Has edited this book with elegance, While Betty Sheets, his assistant, u Has aided with all her intelligence. Harold manages our business- He's tall, with dancing feet. Thelma's tall and very smart- With her none can compete. Nelda rules the Pep Club, Anddoes a swell job, too lris was a football attendant Though she came in this year new. Martha Jo and Boots Are friends of the truest blue. And Chris and Jean and Louise Are always together. too. A couple walking down the halls Holding hands, alas and alack! Who else could that ever be Bul our own Louise and Jack! . Tommy, fullback for the Buffs. Was high-point man in the C.K.C., And 'Kelly Linn, our tackle, Won a Johnson Tackle Trophy. Jimmie and Bobbie, the twins, Shine on the basketball floor. Rubi graduated early And was with us no more. Concertos are a snap for her. But Stardust is her best. Virginia makes those black and whites Jump at her request. 20 Engaged to a Pfc, And with her share of good looks. Evelyn is our class treasurer And knows how to balance the books. Another of our promised girls Is Leona. short and light. And also with a diamond ring, ls the coquettish .Helen Fight. The girl who's got a Navy man ls Helen, with bright eyes and curls, And Jane and Mary Caudill Are some more of our pin-up girls. Ben Ferguson charms his many girls With his beautiful blond hair: He Was cast in the Senior Play As a doctor who wasn't all there! Ford, Marie, and Cassity Simply ooze with glamour, And around them all the time The handsomest boys do clamour. She works in the oflice- Tall and dark Marguerite. And Martha Pribble in the lunchroom Sells us good things to eat. Jo Ann and Dick were welcomed Into our Senior class- He's going to be an air cadet And she's our singing lass. Then, last, but not least. there's Dolores Who was cheerleader for the team. She Was also football sponsor And the Junior Carnival Queen. Never to sit at Study Hall tables, Or write.on the boards with lead, Or shoot paperwads at your very best friend, And hit the teacher instead. Gosh. we really hate to leave our school- Never to study 'neath this roof anymore. Here's hoping the underclassmen will miss The Senior Class of '44-I! Dolores Cooke Wright.
