Amid the excitement of pa- rades, rides, and cotton Candy, Garrett was represented in the MissDeKalb County pageant by Mary Kay Clark and Connie Rapp. In an afternoon session, the girls were judged in the swimsuit competition, and the evening contest under the lights demanded a talent presentation and an evening gown review from all contestants . In the fi- nal moments , Connie Rapp was named Miss DeKalb County, and Mary Kay Clark received second runner -up . Connie rep- resented DeKalb County at the Indiana State Fair in August . Connie performs A Day at the Ballpark. Garrett Queen Reigns at Fair Rapp, Miss DeKalb Comity Seventy twirlers, pompom girls, and band members parade at the fair. Miss DeKalb County glows at her coronation with second runner-up Mary Kay Clark.

Mind Blower Captures Miss Garrett Crown Miss Mary Kay Clark, repre- senting Sigma Phi Gamma So- rority, received the crown of Miss Garrett to highlight the Garrett Days activities. Mary Kay also accepted a tro- phy for the original talent por- tion with her comedy skit on drug abuse . The 13 girls competing for the title of Miss Garrett, com- pleted a questionnaire which served as a guide for the judges during a personal interview. In the closed afternoon session, the girls received points for the bathing suit competition . That evening, the Seniors opened the program by introducing them- selves and performing a routine to Too Many Chiefs and Not Enough Indians . The talent portion followed with singing, tap and creative dancing, sew- ing, and guitar playing. The girls then paraded in evening gowns for the judges . The five semi -finalists were named, and from them, Miss Mary Kay Clark was crowned Miss Gar- rett and Miss Connie Rapp, runner-up for the title. Miss Garrett candidates: Leslie Wise, Pam Platner, Deb Neukom, Annette Geiser, Runner-up Connie Rapp, Patty Housel, Miss Garrett Mary Kay Clark, Deb Gerhardt, Cathy Custer, JoAnn Worman, Cathy Mcintosh, Suzanne Cornewell, Linda Custer.

' 71 Holds Evening of One-Act Plays ' ' CAST Uncle Les . . . Rick Chamberlin Jimmy Cain . Brad Kinsey Grandmother . . . . Angie LaTumer Judith Cain . . . . . Cathy Mcintosh Helen Johnson Mary Clark LEFT: Student Director Becky Myers over- sees the acting, lighting, and costumes. The cast of No Greater Love perform with the audience on three sides. On November 20 and 21, the Seniors presented An Evening of One -Act Plays . For three weeks, the cast worked with Mr. Bockman, Struggling to learn lines and portray charac- ters . Finally having survived threats of cancellation, sagging enthusiasm, and weariness, the show went on. Senior band members tied the plays together with their presentations . A Free Bus Ride to a Shopping Center found seven Seniors taking a strange bus ride to a shopping center, or was it somewhere else? The second show explained Why Teachers Go Nuts in a comical class- room sketch. The mood then became serious for No Greater Love , the story of a young doctor who finds that love is most important . The play earned $600 for the Senior Class .
