Students Build After spending hours working on one drawing, one feels proud of his work, Learning new methods and improving old ones while raising and growing plants and animals occupies one ' s time in a worthwhile manner, for Practical Lives Senior Steve Mansfield seems to be puzzled as he works to complete a project in mechanical drawing. During shop class Jeff Brinkerhoff gives rapt atten¬ tion to the machines and tools that will assist him in learning valuable crafts and skills.

Developing healthy bodies is one of the goals of the physical educa¬ tion department. Providing an at¬ mosphere where students can learn to play together is another. Students participate in a variety of sports; and, of course, do the time-proven calisthenics. SECOND ROW: Jeff Best, Mike Hervey, Gary Glaze, Pete Harter, Bob Wesner, Vonda Bixler, John Brown, John Baidinger, and Larry Williams. THIRD ROW; Tom Carper, Barry Reese, Debbie Hall, Rod Andrews, Vic Housel, Larry Booker, Steve Andrews, Tim Hippensteel, and Kay Shoener. Bands Add Color, Spur Enthusiasm, One of the most important organiza¬ tions of the school system, the Garrett High School Band, appeared at ball games and pep sessions boosting our team on to victory. The director, Mr. Larry Brandt, led the band in contests and parades bringing honors to the music department of Garrett High School. A new phase of the band was orga¬ nized this year as the Dance Band. This group appeared many places, in¬ cluding dances and dinners. Placing first in the District Music Contest and second in the State Music Contest, it served as a useful addition. Entertainment was provided at both basketball and football games by the Garrett High School twirlers. An added attraction was our first drum major. They added a bit of zest and color at half-time. 30 This year ' s twirlers were: Bill Baidinger, Drum Major, Marianne Myers, Drum Majorette, Lynn Freeman, Jeanne Helbert, and Claudia Miller.
