Speed is of the essence in Mr. Woodcox ' s class. Students learn how to multiply and divide rapidly by working problems on the bo aid. Fascinate Us . . . starting from elementary division all the way to spherical trigonometry, is the range of math at G.H.S. Seventh and eighth grades can gain a br.slc knowledge of the arithmetic fundamentals and then develop upon these in high school. Ever hear of an endless curve? Well, Mr. Linder is letting Lynn Simon in on the secret of how that piece of paper has only one surface. Figuring all the angles is the problem that Randy Oliver faces at present. Geometry presents many problems, and Randy is well on his way to conquering them. Getting some after school help from Mr. Flora, Suz- anne Davis seeks to unveil the complicated myster- ies of Algebra. 19

Science is taking a bigger and bigger lead in the academic life of GHS. An example of this is the advanced course in chemistry being offered this year. Besides new courses, there are new ideas being introduced. Radio-activity has been added plus other studies of the atom. Chemistry I students learn the basic concepts, and later expand upon them. The vocabulary, the fundamentals, and units of measurements are some of the ideas taught. In the later part of the year, chemical calculations, general behavior of solutions and processes of solubility are tudied. General science is taught in Jr. High, and they learn the basic ideas to build on in high school. Apparently disturbed at the proceedings, Carol LaRue disapproves of Larry Warstler and Eugene Hathaway dissecting a clam. Atomic Age. Feeding time at the zoo. Several students used white mice for their Science Fair projects. The measure of balance presents senior Jim Tharpe with an interesting problem in physics class. 21
