IN MEMORIAM GLORI E WEbLhY HORIN This page is dedicated to the memory of George VVesley Horn, member of the senior class of 1956. George was the only son of Mr. and Mrs, G. H. Horn. R. R. 3 of Garnett. He was born in Pueblo, Colorado. January 10. 1938. The family has lived in the Garnett Community since their arrival here in 1940. He attend- ed grade school at Mont Ida and high school at Garnett. Dllling' his high school years, George was active in vocational agri- vulture and football. He will long he remembered by his classmates as :i true friend who was always willing :ind ready to help others. SOUNDS OI THE FARM nThe poem below was written by George when he was a freshman and was published in the annual of 1953i The sounds of the farm Are the ones 1 like to hear. The muted roar of the tractor Preparing the earth for our livelihood, The gentle talk of the cows Reassuring their young. The sweet music of the birds Conducting their private orchestra. MRS HAZEL K PULLMAN N115 Hazel K Pullman has b en a for 33 years and a teacher for a to al of 45 years She has not only given these years as a teacher of English Ln in and journalism but she h-is sponsored the Girl Reserves 'ini Y- 'leens for 32 years. She started the Garnett chapter of Quill and Scroll and has kept a record of all the mem- bers with group pictures. This dis- play can be seen by looking above the black boards in Room 208 where she has spent many long years of teach- ing. Mr. C. H. Oman whose picture hangs above the west stage door in the auditorium is the only teacher who taught here longer than Mrs. Pullman. Memories of her will be here a long time with all the things she leaves to the school in her loom Amo ig tl e Colosseum of Rome and the Tem ple of Saturn photographs of Porta Roma the gate 1nto Florence and the Temple of Saturn' small pictures of the Parthenon 'md the pool in front of the House of Vesta' There is also a colored picture of Aurora presented by the class of 33' and a bust of Julius Caesar the gift from the latin students of 1932. It is with these and many other wonderful thoughts in our hearts that Mrs. Pullman leaves us. She has left a host of Roman articles and memo- ries dear to all of us along with her long record of being a teacher who worked long and hard to make us all better citizens.
