lliifatnrg Thirteen long years ago in September 1952, we as 24 bashful youngsters slowly walked up the stairs of the Garner Grade School to begin our school days. Now, as seniors, we look back on those days with laughter, thoughtfulness, gaity and in some cases regret. Those that enrolled under Miss Goll that year were: Eunice Armstrong, Norma Jean Boland,Bill Brugman,Vita May Christians, Melvin Daniels, Kay Elling, Delores Erickson, Ollie Gaines, Betty Greiman, Laurel Hammon, Gerhardt Harmdirks, De Etta Haskins, Alice Megrew, Roberta Olsen, Dorothy Quintus, Betty Reibe, James Reinig, Ruth Rice, Patricia Steinberg, Gordon Specht, and Dorothy Young. In first grade, under the direction of Miss Brannon,Ed- ward Daniels, Bernard Dankbar, Betty Lou Schmidt, and Gene Katter entered our ranks. This year we all became members of the Rhythm Band, under the direction of the music teacher. We were under the direction of Miss Woodward in the second grade. Anthony Hauptman, Frank Flores, Donald and Dorance Knoke, Adair Bakken, and Billy Hahn entered our class. We studied animals that year. We all brought ants to school in glass jars to study their actions. Miss Woodward stayed with us in the third grade also. Billy Dean Mallinger, Evelyn Jacobson, and Charlene Sonquist entered. During the third year we enjoyed the story hour when Miss Woodward read us nMiss Perkins'sn stories. In fourth grade which was under the direction of Miss Becker, Arvil Stille entered our class. HSleepy Hollown was the favorite book of our class that year. A thrill to all was when we moved to the upper floor in the Grade School. We had Miss Donelson this year. Harry Diekhuis, Luvern Tanner, and Frances Stokesbary came to us. As we entered the departments of Junior High we found we had three teachers: Miss Mackey, Miss Hanson, and Mr. Tompkins, With Miss Mackey to supervise our sixth grade work a new member entered our ranksgthis being Warren Beers. Miss Hanson left in the seventh grade and Miss Collins entered. It was a memorable year for the girls as they explored the attic of the Grade School. They found many interesting things until they were discovered. In the eighth grade we had the same instructors and the new students were: Maxine Johnson and Norma Jean Whitmore. We indulged in declamatory work and after passing our exams advanced to High School.
