Itfrfnhwn It was agreed by the class of l945 that in l95u each member of the class would write a letter to the Garner High School telling what they have done in the past five years. This is 1950 and Charlene Sonquist, James deinig and Doris Fread wish ceived. As we postmarked us that he or notj is to 'present to you the information they have re- examine the first letter, we find that it is Hollywood. Our old friend, Laurel Hammon, assures is gegy interested in his work, which fbelieve it taking pictures of glamorous models. Our second letter is also from California. Wayne Rasmus reports that he is doing splendidly with his apple orchard. He sent us a boi of apples Ccollect on delivery, of coursej and they were Qelieious- o t We have received good news from Mr. and Mrs. Don Kirchner. Naturally, the latter yas Marjorie Greiman. lt seems as though Don is keeping up his family tradition, for they are the proud parents of twins. Here is a letter from Rhode lsland. Our classmate, Rachel Matz, says she is thrilled with her job. She is now secretary to the governor of Rhode Island. Our next letter is e surprise to .us. lt is from somee where in the Philippines. Lts.Betty Greimen and Nova Uhesnut, who ere nurses, are teaching the natives the nursing pros fession. Hildreth Tlsoh writes that she is a teacher in that Whig town of DuneanN. We hope you een handle your pupils,Hildreth. p Here is a letter from our home town. It says that Delores ,Erickson and Dorothy Quintus are employed at the office of the Goodrich and Bethhe Produce Company. H 'Well of all things! Anna Mae Juhl informs us that she has qfinally settled down to one man. She married a sailor, in 1947, and what do you know! The seilor. was none other than Warren Beers, e former classmate.. A Joe Carlson is an authority on vocational egrioulture. He is a teacher in Ghugweter, Wyoming. sore is e letter from beyond the boundaries of the United States. It comes from our neighbor on the south, Mexico. Imagine our surprise to flhd that it is from Judith Heberhemp. She is teaching little Mexicans their three R's in e mission sohool, .

We find ourselves ascending another flight of stairs to knowledge upon receiving our diplomas from grade school. The students who started together in High School are: Warren Beers, Marilyn Boehnke, Nova Chesnut, Bernard Dankbar, Harry Diekhuis, Delores Erickson, Kay Elling, Doris Fread, Ollie Gaines,Betty Jean Greiman,Marjorie Greiman,Judith Haberkamp, Doris Haes, Orville Hall, Laurel Hammon, Maxine Johnson, Anna Mae Juhl,Gene Katter,Donald Knoke,Dorance Knoke,Roberta Olsen, Dorothy Quintus, Warren Rasmus, Wayne Rasmus, James Reinig, Ruth Rice, Donald Richards, Betty Schmidt, Charlene Sonquist, Gordon Specht,Arvil Stille, Pat Steinberg, Frances Stokesbary, Hildreth Tlach, Betty Reibe, Norma Whitmore, and Rachel Matz. X In our Freshmen year we elected President, Kay Ellingg Vice President, Laurel Hammong Secretary and. Treasurer, Delores Erickson, and Student Council member, Pat Steinberg. One of the unpleasant memories of our Freshmen year wasthe initiation but our miseries were retaliated when we initiated the Freshmen in our Sophomore year. Our Sophomore class officers were: President, Dorance Knoke5Vice President, Gordon Specht3Secretary and Treasurer, Jimmy Reinigg and Student Council member, Gwen Kirchner. Due to lack of credits Dorance Knoke was unable to serve as President and for this reason Gordon Specht was acting President during the year. Our third step to knowledge provided excitement for us. We gave our first class play entitled WThe Youngest Professionn. We entertained the seniors at a Junior-Senior banquet in which the theme Wred and whiteu was carried out.t Our officers were: President, Kay Ellingg Vice President, Arvil Stilleg Secretary and Treasurer, Dorothy Quintusj and Student Council member, Marjorie Greiman. Joe Carlson, Elexine Schneider, and Willard Romp entered our class. In our final step of knowledge in high school we elected the following class officers: President, Gordon Specht3Vice President,Arvil Stilleg Secretary and Treasurer, Gwen Kirchner, and Student Council member, Bette Reibe. We were entertained at a prom given by the Juniors and gave a class play this year. As we look back on the ws lvl! years we find that we have only startedl on Q' ff the steps to knowledge. Our class motto, Wlearn to do by doing,N 'will aid us aevwi X.x toward our individual goals. ' We think A it onlyf propera to give re- cognition sto those ,boys who left our class for service. This letter is postmarked Washington, D. C. As we tear it open, we wonder who from the class of '45 has landed in the capitol of our fair country. Why, it is Kay -Elling, Senator from Utah. His secretaries, Pat Steinberg and Gwen Kirchner, simply adore working for him. , Ercm Bernard Dankbar we received word that he is the biggest and best cow tester in Minnesota. Marion Schoneman writes that he is in the auto business in Chicago. He is seen daily, racing up and down Michigan Avenue in his l950 pink convertible. Well, well! We have a letter from a singer and it is none other than Marilyn Boehnke. She informs us that she warbles on a radio program that comes on the air at six o'clock, A. M., Central Standard Time. As our stack of letters becomes smaller, we find another letter from Chicago. William Brugman Cbetter known as Billl is employed at the largest railroad center in the world. A letter from Doris Haes and Betty Schmidt, who operate the only beauty shoppe in Ventura, invite any of their old classmates to come over for a free beauty treatment. We have two boys from the class of '45 who are attending large universities. Gordon Specht. who is attending Harvard, is majoring in science and Arvil Stille writes that he is playing quarterback for Yale. AFVil not only enjoys football, but girls, too. A .Warren Rasmus informs us that he is working for the American Tobacco Company and that his father-in-law set him up in business. We are coming to the end of our letters and have only two left. We are glad to hear that Bette Reibe inherited 350,000 from an unknown relative and is living in the Waldorf Astoria in New Yor' City Qbome people have all the lucklb ,Our last letter is from Omaha, NebraSka, where Orville Hall is half-owner of a night club. CHe gives dancing les- sons on the side.j We are very sorry to have reached the end Of our core respondencee-but wait--what's this? A messenger just handed us a Special 'Delivery from Donald Cbetter-latefthan-neverl Richards. Don is in India and it seems he is with the Hindus learning Black Magic. I And now, unlike our customary procedure of throwing Qll correspondence in the waste basket, we file these letters for future reference, and in doing so, wish the members of the class of 1945 much,success in the Years to come.
