MF-?Q.A.I1i53i Fi I 'HHH' Fi lA.Q7ifW On February 4, 1985, Garland Christian Academy presented its first musical-drama with over 120 high school students participating. The play, Raise the Flag, was produced and directed by the Academy of Arts and Dr. Nicky Chavers from Greenville, S.C. The play told the story of well-known Americans that contributed to the history of the United States, such as Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Lydia Darragh. This play was a culmination of a week long seminar consisting of make-up and lighting classes, and scene rehearsals. Even though weather conditions caused school to be cancelled two days, interrupted valuable practice time and forced the performance date to be changed, the cast per- formed admirably andthe audience was truly appreciative. George Washington, played by John Vanover, writes a letter while at Valley Forge. The Gray Goose Trial scene added a spice of humor to the play. Dorrie Williams and Kenneth Raney 116 rehearse the Lincoln assassination scene.
