SCHOOL LIFE SUNSET TIME IN SVVITZERLAND The golden rays of sunshine hide Behind a lofty mountain side, The herd-boy and his goats have gone. The shadows creep and then grow long. An echo is heard somewhere in the west Calling the people home to rest, The mountain eagle home does fly Racing the vanishing sun in the sky. Quiet are these mountain heights While far below the village lights Twinkle in the silent air As darkness settles everywhere. A lonely echo sounds afar, And with it comes the evening star The echo grows then dies away, Dies with the light of the dying day.
