DEDIC TIO L 4 V, V 4. !'qgg.i' ..? i Miss Jean Burns has been an invaluable and vital cog of the Garfield faculty for many years. Besides teaching Clothing and Home-Management classes for thirty-five years, Miss Burns has given unselfishly of her designing and sewing talents. Funfests and style shows have always had the distinctive mark of her creativeness and perfective quality. Miss Burns strives to inspire the girls in her clothing classes toward creativeness. Her driving guidance has resulted in con- sistently artistic fashions designed and made by the girls. For years, Miss Burns and her classes have been responsible for the design and creation of many of the Funfest costumes. lt has been this kind of practical experience that has made her students skillful seamstresses. She displays her own practical nature in the Home-Manage- ment classes where she uses her knowledge of household problems to teach the girls the fundamentals of homemaking. Miss Burns, herself a gracious hostess, tries to teach the girls that art. Miss Burns has spent much of her time outside of school helping with welfare proiects such as stuffing Christmas stock- ings for needy children.
