MAY WONG Treasurer HE Cabinet sponsored many activities during the past year. The first one of the fall consisted of greeting new girls to the school with helpful directions and friendly smiles. An open house was held in the Girls' Club Office, or G.C.O. as it is commonly called, to acquaint everyone with Club work. At this time, the officers, A.B., and Cabinet members were introduced. Many proiects were carried on throughout the year. Among new activities sponsored was the use of a monthly calendar and the sale of purple-white bow ties. Carameled apples, pompoms, and football pencils were also sold. The first viceepresident took over chairmanship of the Cabinet meetings. All these activities are united under the Girls' Club creed and through them, the Club hopes to turn out many fine, worthy women. GIRL 9 54' 4 In MISS MILDRED BELL BARBARA JEFFRIES CLAIRE SAXTON Advisor President El W Y' First Vice-President HE Girls' Club is open to every girl upon her entrance to Garfield. Committee signups are held early in the fall under the auspices of the Cabinet, each member of which is the chairman or co-chairman of one of the various Girls' Club committees. Their purpose is to include as many girls as possible in the club activities. The Advisory Board consists of ten girls, four of whom are elected and six appointed. Their main duties include the enforcement of school regulations and supervision of certain of the club committees. Miss Mildred Bell, advisor, offers valuable guidance and 'friendly advice to every girl. Five elected officers lead all activities by their inspiring leadership. BUYS' VERY boy becomes a member of the Boys' Club when he enters Garfield. His mem- bership gives him an opportunity to take part in school activities. The club, led by Mr. Leslie Cribley, adviser, together with three elected officers, sponsors many events. Some of these include skating parties, a faculty Christmas party, and the sale of book covers. These functions are carried out through the Advisory Board, the Bulldog Club, and the various committees. The Advisory Board members see that school rules and regulations are carried out. They provide friendly counsel besides welcom- ing new students and helping boys who are having difficulty to adiust to school life. By setting the proper examples of personal con- duct, the Boys' A.B. hopes to maintain the fine standards of Garfield High.
