GARFIELD 52 LIMA 60 After losing to Springfield, Garfield traveled to Lima and went down to defeat at the hands of the Spartans, 60-52. The Bartonmen played a very close game throughout the entire game. The Spartans led 29-21 at half-time, but Garfield Cut the lead 46-42 in the third quarter only to fall short in the fourth. How- ever, Dave Connell was the leading scorer with 23, while Eugene Wiggins tallied with 19. Skip Taylor 1121 goes in for a driving lay-up in the Hamilton- Tatt game, while Stanley McCloud 1221 and Dave Connell C311 follow up for the rebound. 5 GO GARFIELD GRIFFINS, GO! Both the Band and the Griffetts cheer for the mighty Griffins. Dave Connell C311 goes high to sink a hook shot in spite of the efforts of the Hamilton Taft defense to stop him.

TOU RN EY PLAY Garfield 87-Lakota 65 The Griffins opened play in district tournament play by routing smaller Lakota, 87-65. Garfield 50-Little Miami 29 Although Little Miami stalled the ball, Garfield squashed them, 50-29. Garfield 75- Franklin 53 Garfield looked like a top-contender for the state champions as they overpowered a strong Franklin, 75-53. Garfield 73 -- Princeton 69 The Griffins revenged last year's defeat by downing a highly-touted Princeton team, 73-69. Garfield 59-Middleton 85 By a brilliant display of shooting, the Middies downed the Griffins, 85-59. With this game, they ended the first era in the schooI's history. Although they lost, they managed to go farther than any Hamilton team since 1954 and won the dis- trict runner-up. l54l
