GARFIELD 68 MIDDLETOWN 89 The Gartield Grittins cagers made their debut in the Greater Ohio League by losing to Middletown 89-68. This made the Griftins' record 2-l. Middletown had their best shooting night by hitting 52 per cent of their shots while Garfield hit only 33 per cent. lt was a hard taught game, to start a new rivalry between the two schools. The Grittins' attack was led by Dave Connell and Ted Norris with 21 and I7 points, respectively. Garfield 54, Springfield 49, marking a l-l record in the G. O. L. race. Displaying possession basketball at its best to break a two game losing high point man in the attack. GARFIELD 54 SPRINGFIELD 49 The Bartonmen upset Springfield marking a lrl record in the G. O. L. race. Displaying possession basketball at its best, the locals broke a two game losing streak. The team showed a well balanced attack with Dave Connell being high point man in the attack. Ted Norris C105 gets one step ahead of Taft defender to drive in for a basket. The student body show their spirit in the Hamilton-Taft game. l48l Eugene Wiggins U33 fights for one of his many rebounds during the season.

The Mighty Griffins charge on to the floor. GARFIELD 51 MIDDLETOWN 60 Once again Garfield's Griffin Cagers were taken in by the Middie Magic, 58-51. lt was a nip and tuck battle all the way as neither team led by any large margin until the fourth quarter. ln the final period, as the Middies began to pull away, the Griffins hung on desperately, but couIdn't hang on long behind the steady play of the Middies. Dave Connell was high man with 18 points, but Ted Norris tallied many needed baskets to keep Garfield in range during the fourth quarter. Eugene Wiggins C132 drives in for a two-pointer against Middletown. GARFIELD 61 LIMA 51 The big holidays didn't hurt the Mighty Griffins as they defeated Lima 6161. The Griffins led throughout the game as they led at half-time 36-29. The fourth quarter was a big one as Garfield opened up to win by a com- fortable lead. Again Garfield showed a well-balanced attack, as Dave Con- nell and Ted Norris scored 13 points each, while Stan McCloud and Bruce Gaskins scored 11 each.
