The band salutes the team as they come roaring onto the field before game time. Nothing gives the crowd a greater thrill than Garfield 'I2 - Middletown 44 The Griffin eleven closed out its first gridiron sea- son by falling before the Middletown Middies 44-l2 before a disappointed crowd of 500 at the Athletic Field. Russ Campbell scored the last touchdown of the season as Middletown's passing game proved to be too much. Defensive players Ken Wells U91 and Richard Conrad prove too much for this Newark ball-carrier.

Garfield T4 - Taft T2 The second game with Taft was very close. The score at the end of the half was 6-O in our favor. At the beginning of the second half, Taft scored a touch- down tying the score at 6-6. Garfield and Taft both scored once in the last quarter, but Garfield managed to complete the run for the extra points to be victorious at I4-12. Campbell was the main yard- gainer as he scored both of Garfield's touchdowns and also the extra points. , -fd Russ Campbell C351 is downed by a group of Lima players as he goes for short-yardage. Z 3 , E ,A t -5- T 5 rg'-nf 1 Y -nw e A K-i i, it t asm :'i'2ff VY Garfield 20 - Lima 28 The Grilfins traveled to Lima to try for second place in the GOL. This was the best all around game of the season. A great second-half effort fell short as they were beaten 28-20. All three of the Garfield touchdowns were scored by Campbell. Garfield players combines for that one last yard which will give them another touchdown in the Middletown game.

Cf' Q X This year marlced the beginning ot Gritfir. Night, our homecoming celebration. Start- ing a new tradition, the identity ot the Queen was kept secret until the homecoming as- sembly. After the girls arrived on the glit- tering stage, the Queen was presented with a bouquet of red roses by her escort, Before the game, a large group of tes- tively decorated convertibles wound through the town, accompanied by several bands, to the Athletic Field.
