Administration HARRIS GILLESPIE JOHN F. CONLEY HAROLD R. MAURER STANLEY TYLICK1 FRANK J. KNIOLA ROBERT L. Ross MICHAEL T. JAFFRIN CARL P. GUTHRIE The members ofthe Garfield Heights Board of Education congratulate the members of the PIONEER Staff on this interesting and attractive Yearbook. This book, we are confident, will be preserved and treasured for many years to come because of the documentary record which it contains of your high school days. It will serve to remind you of the many good times which you have had as high school students. The members of your Board are, at all times, sincerely cognizant of the important responsi- bilities conferred upon them by the electorate of this school district. The American public school system is g'overned, in a large measure, by the ideal of equal opportunity for all children through similar educational advantages. Boards of Education, therefore, have a well dehned responsibility in serving all of the children of all the people, irrespective of the economic, social, religious, or political affiliations of their parents. The members of your Board, in their deliberative actions, have attempted-first and foremost-to recognize this obligation by approving only those administrative policies and procedures which they feel will best con- tribute to the general welfare of all pupils. The Board members join with me in recording our appreciation for the many fine contribu- tions which have been made by our teaching staff, for the cooperation of the student body, and for the intelligent support and understanding that has been evidenced by the people of our school district. We have no desire other than that of serving you and your parents in the best possible way. f Respectfully submitted, MICHAEL T. JAFFRIN, President Garfield Heights Board of Education
