The 1987 Remuda is dedicated to a fine gentleman who we all feel deserves this special recognition. Al Johnson was born October 9, 1923 in Plentywood Montana. He grew up in the North East part of the state and graduated from Plentywood High School in 1941. After graduation he started his career with horses or horse related jobs. He says, before coming to Garfield County High School I spent most of my life on horseback or horse related. Starting back in the middle 40's I worked for such good 01' big outfits like itch Fork, Antler, Padlock, Stovalls and Double Arrow, while at the Kona Ranch I suffered several heart attacks which eventually brought our move to Jordan. Betty and I have been married 25 years.” Al has been very active in Garfield County High School. He taught art class for 8 years and has subbed for many teachers since. When teaching art courses they consisted of Oil painting. Water color and Drawing, with the subjects running mostly toward the Western Art side. He tried to run a class that the kids enjoyed and felt free to work and discuss their work. He was also involved with the school by judging the High School Rodeo for about 8 years and helping with quite afew of the Youth Rodeo Association Shows. Since moving to Jordan, Al has continued with Western Art and feels a gratifying success in it. He feels his paintings are all over the United States and he is glad he can continue to get commissions even in a slower economy. Al has been a big part of Garfield County High School and we hope he will continue to be in the future. His inspiring stories help to structure the lives of all of us. 1986 REMUDA IS DEDICATED TO AL JOHNSON 17

GOOD LUCK SENIORS 1987 The Road Not Taken Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveller, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back, I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood , and I- I took the one less travelled by, And that has made all the difference. ROBERT FROST LOOK TO THE FUTURE
