This year the district music festival was held in Colstrip. The GCHS Show Choir sang Tender Years and received a 3. Gina FitzGerald played Gigue on her alto sax and received a 1. George Ady sang Road To Zion and received a 1. Mary Dutton and Rhonda Phillips sang The Rose and received a 2. The Brass Ensemble played Bougorne and received a 2. Jen Wilson sang Sandman and received a 2. Shan Whiteside played Ave Maria and Siciliene and received a 2. Josie Negaard played Let the Good Times Roll on the piano and received a 4. Kim Wilson played Romanian Folk Dance on the piano and received a 2. Debbie Tobel played LeTambourin on the clarinet and received a 2. Gina FitzGerald and Tony O'Connor did a sax duet and played Ballad . They received a 2. Gina and George went on to State Music Festival, which was held in Miles City. In 1986 the GCHS track team had a very successful season with 33 members on its squad. The girls team was led by seniors Marcene McWilliams, Shelly McWilliams, and Kim Wilson. The boys team was led by seniors Travis Twitchell and Jay Selman. As for the events themselves. Jay Selman competed in the Pole Vault at State, Travis Twichell in the Triple Jump and Marcene McWilliams in the 800 meter and 1600 meter runs at state. Marcene concluded her brilliant four year career by obliterating the 800 record with a second place finish in 2.22 and placing third in the 1600, again in another school record time of 5.21.8. In the District 4-C track meet the girl's team placed 3rd and the boy's team 5th. Jay Selman was district champion in the Pole Vault, Travis Twitchess in the Triple Jump, Marcene McWilliams in the 800 and 1600, and Gina FitzGerald in the Triple Jump. Other team members who did very well were: Angie Able-hurdles, Sherlie Hains-sprints, Jane Quinlan-sprints, Kam Ryan-long distance Andrea Krikorian-hurdles, weights, Josie Negaard-distance, Lindsay Uthaug-Dist., Gina FitzGerald-weights, Kim Wilson-sprints,weights, Jen Wilson-weights, Kim Kreider-Jumping, Lorna Krum-Jumper, Laura Stevenson-weights, Jeannie Gibson-jumping, Dorine Murnion-weights, Nathan Saylor-sprints, Jumper, Travis Browning-Dist, Victor Ady- Dist, Weights, Justin Pluhar-sprints, Cliff Stevenson-sprints, weights, Joe Vollmer-Weights, Cody Gibson-Jumper, Lige Murray- mid-dist, weights, LaVurn Gagnon-Dist, Greg Hellyer-hurdles, Brett Coldwell-Hurdles, and the managers Lisa Buffington and Ann O'Connor. 15
