This was my first year on the staff and I learned alot. We had alot of fun, along with the many hours of hardwork and all the responsi- bilities. I would like to thank our sponsors for all their help. I hope you enjoy this as much as we do. Photography Editor This was my second year of being on the Remuda Staff, but my first of being Photo- graphy Editor. I would like to thank Mareta for the help she has given me ane I would like to say I have really enjioyed working under Mrs. Edwards and Mrs. Bray as well as with the other staff fid Editor Putting together a yearbook is a difficult project. It takes time, money, talent, imagin- ation, dedication, and responsibility. From pictures to print, the talents of a number of people are required. I feel this 1985-86 staff filled these require- ments especially well. We worked hard, but we had fun too. I lhope you enjoy our finished product. DjULcMjI j Layout Editor My last year of high school was my first on the Remuda Staff. With deadlines to meet and other responsibilities, sometimes I wondered if we would make it in time. I really enjioyed those I worked with and had alot of good times with them and our spon- sors, who we couldn't have done it without. I hope you the students enjoy this as much as we the staff enjoyed making it. y W. Shelly McWilliams Marcene McWilliams 8 WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE CLASS OF ’86 DURING THE PAST 12 YEARS??? Twelve bright, youig kids started first grade at Jordan Elementary in the fall of '74. Four marbers of that class would survive the next twelve years. Others cane and vent along the way and seme stayed. These four were George Ady, Glenda Irons, Paul Buffington, and Sparky toss. Others that year vere Tarmy Withee, Dorine Mjrnion, Jody Nichols, Billy Green, and Alane Schwartz who left us after that year. Others who stayed for a vrfiile longer were Damon Kobe 1 sky (tollo), Darlene Withee, and Stacy Quellett (Lilienthal). Our teachers were tos. Wille and Mrs. Hint. The major event that year was when somebody flooded the first grade bathrocm. In second grade, our teacher was Mrs. Vial 1. The seven of us who continued on vere joined by Todd Gibson and Lela Hami lton. Lela was only with us for one year. That year we were combined in one rocm with the 3rd grade. They taught us the important things of school like how to copy the neighbor's paper without getting caught. In third grade, we were on are own again. Mr. Shorten, our teacher, along with eight students completed the year. We did our homework to the record Mr. Shorten played. Our favorite was Billy Crash Cradock's Rtf) it in, Rib it in and Dead Skunk in the Middle of the toad! In fourth grade, our teacher was Mr. Weiger. We gained Shane Locmis, Kim Wilson, toribeth toKeever, Helen Fink and Scott Boviall. The big event that year was when Paul slipped an Ex-Lax into Mr. Weiger's coffee. He broke the speed record from the classroom to the bathroom. Damon tollo also went to Billings that year. In fifth grade, we were joined again by Damon and also by Jay Selman and Darla Stanton. We lost Scott and Todd. Our teacher was Miss Faber. In Miss Faber's class you had to kneel by your desk as a punishment. Jay spent so much time there they almost took away his desk. In sixth grade, our teacher was Mrs. Osborne, tori and Tony Phipps joined our class. All of the boys in the class were sent to the principal's office for playing football in the mud. We also became experts at making nock jewelry. In seventh grade, we had two teachers and changed classes. One was to. Shutak and the other was to. Southern. Stacy Lilienthal left us that year. We learned many important things like how to sharpen a pencil properly. We gained three kids—Lisa toKinley, John Simmers, and Mona Gal linger. Jay Selman and Shane always stuffed John in his locker. Eighth grade was a great year. We were finally at the top at least in grade school. (Xjr teachers were to. Young and to. Hayes. Kara Clark and Chad O'Connor joined us that year. John Summers and Lisa toKinley left us that year also. The most fin we had was on our class trip to Billings. Jay Selman was pushed out the windew in his underwear and had to nn all the way around the hotel to get back in the rocm. Also, all of the boys got sick after pigging out at the Royal Fork Buffet and then going to the Carnival. Sparky turned the best shkie of green. It was great fun!!! Finally, we graduated. We met all of the new kids frem the rural grade schools that we vould go to high school with. We couldn't wait to see what it would be like. Our freshmen year we gained Karla Kerr, Edie Ballensky, Mark torlak, torcene Shelly McWilliams, Tony Baler, Mike Williams, Beth Phipps, and Dawn Beecher. Todd Gibson joined us again. We had to carry senior's books, tie their shoes, walk and go through all the fun of initiation. We were at the bottom of the heap. Mike left us to go make a fortune in Nevade. Our sophomore year wasn't much better. We had to get a lot of required courses done, tori Phipps left school then and Todd went down to Nevada again. Mike cane back from Nevada. Mr. Cyr, the music teacher, had a nervous breakdown. Our junior year wasn't too bad. We put on the best Prcm and Banquet ever—under the direction of our class sponsors, to. and to. Kloker. toribeth McKeever also rejoined our class. Now we are at our Senior year. We are all waiting for graduation and our lives afterwards. (Xjr class new consists of George Ajy, Paul Buffington, Tony Baler, Edie Ballensky, Davn Beecher, Glenda Irons, Kara Clark, toribeth toKeever, torcene Shelly McWilliams, Karla Kerr, Sparky toss, Jay Selman, Kim Wilson, Tony Phipps, Travis Twitchell, Chad O'Connor, Mona Gallinger, Darla Stanton, Shane Locmis, Mike Williams, Mark torlak, Christy Green. We had a lot of fun our years of school, and we will always ranerber then. We wish all the best of luck to those who follow us. She is married to DonBray and they have 2 smali children. Marcus is 3 and Kara is The 1st bell at 8:20 begins Mrs. Bray's day with her prep hour. During this time she plans her day and readies herself for the 2nd hour bell which brings 12 freshnen to Heme Ec. 1. The 3rd hour class brings her 9 kids in occupational foods. The students in this class learn business management skills in the fields rangeing from food preparation for large groups of people, to manageing their own business restaurants. These students run the Hungry Hero Cafe, which is a fast food joint, in the form on Tuesdays and a sit down restaurant on Thursdays. This gives them good experience for finding a job and gives them background for working with others as well as the public. Along with the restaurant the occupational foods class helps prepare meals and desserts for the school cafeteria. Fourth hour things shift and the child development class takes over. There are 8 goofy Senior in this class. The first semester the students learn about the physical and emotional development of young children from the time before birth until they are ready for the first grade. The second semester they learn the moods and person- alities of children form the ages of 3 to 5 first hand during playschool. The playschool program gives the students experience working with children in a day care atmosphere. After the lunch break Mrs. Bray exercises her vocal cords by trying to keep the 28 kids in study hall quiet. Most of the time the kids drift to the library or the typing room to catch up on work so it stays reasonably quiet. 6ht and 7th hours are a little slower with 4 kids 6th and 10 kids 7th in independent Heme Ec. projects. These classes work independently on capsules which are projects that effect the every day lifestyles and go into things such as business management and financial pressures of being out on your own, ct... After a long day 3:30 does not mean it is over or slows down much because Mrs. Bray is also the fHA advisor and along with Mrs. Edwards co-sponsors the annual. Long hours are put in and believe it or not they are well appreciated by tl e annual staff. Thanks to her and Mrs. Edwards we got this done. Mrs. Bray and her studious study hall. Later the Sophomores went into sentence structure, proper grammar, and verbals. Eventually they got to read and write biographies, composi- tions, and essays. While the Sophomores were learn- ing under Mareta Brusett's supervision, the Seniors, Juniors, and Freshmen learned from Daryl White. The eight ''arts of speech were at the beginning and from then on everything was simi- lar to that of the Sophomores, every- thing except for the spelling vocabu- lary words. Most of the students who had the words regarded the need for such words egregious. 40 HISTORY CLASS Maybe I will get away with it!! Jen! You didn't!??! Gloria is also the Montana State Chapter parent and Shavon Hooker is the District Song Leader. 1985-86 brought about a busy year for FHA. We started out the year traveling to Baker for District Convention. The highlight for the day was question and answer time with Governor Ted Schwinden as he visited Baker as Capital for a day. Next on our agenda was a trip to Great Falls with OEA for State Leadership Conference. We had a great time and a busy two days. The year brought about many money raisers and fun act- ivities and we kept very busy putting coupons on products at Ryans. What a way to get out of study hall. Christmas vacation started with a Christmas ice skating party and gift exchange. Valentine's Day brought about a Sweetheart Sadie Hawkins Dance. And we look forward to Saint Patrick's Day for a Morp.
