As I hurried back to the Dorm at 9:25, I saw the light on in the library and thought Rose Lervick had forgotten it. But Mrs. Brusett was in there mumbling to herself something about overdue deadlines. She was trimming pictures with the paper cutter, and was jerking the handle down like it was a guillotine. I made the mistake of asking her where the rest of the Remuda staff was. She became completely incoherent! I really would have liked to stay and help her, but you know how Mrs. Dunning is if you are late into the Dorm. After studying for several hours (I just threw that in, in case any teachers read this), I crawled into bed. I could still hear some town kids peeling out somewhere in the distance, but as far as I was concerned, another day at GCHS was at an end.

felA pnn BOY’S GIRL’S STATE Boys State was held on the cam- pus of Western Montana College in Dillon on June 8 -14. Patrick Baugh, Skip Johnson, and Pete Shawver were the delegates from Jordan. The days were full of hectic activ- ity and sports competition. Schools were held on the topics of law, law enforcement, and legislative pro- cedure. Speeches were given during the week by such distinguished guests as Senator Max Baucus, Lt. Gov- ernor Ted Schwinden, Congressman Pat Williams, Congressman Ron Marlenee, Chief Justice Frank Has- well, and Joe Dean. Patrick was Director of Finance Administration for the city of Colter, and City Election Clerk. He ran for County Clerk and for the State Public Service Commis- sion, where he survived the pri- mary election, but was defeated in the general election. He was appointed Secretary of the Public Service Commission and was nam- ed Vice Chairman of the Senate Sub-Committee on Elections and Federal Relations. Ffete was Director of Parks Recreation for the city of Bow Arrow. He also ran for City Coun- cil and for County Assessor. Skip ran for Police Chief in the city of Granite. Girls State was held on the cam- pus of Carroll College in Helena on June 1-7. Wanda Lervick was the delegate from Jordan. Girls State was run on the same format as Boys State, except that the girls chose the party they wanted to be in, instead of being assigned to a party and then writing the platform for that party. The girls attended meetings on leadership training, legislative procedure, and several different seminars. They also toured the Capitol, the Supreme Court, and St. Helens Cathedral. Wanda was City Attorney for the city of Garnet. She ran for Sec- retary Treasurer for the city of Garnet and for Girls Nation, but was defeated in both races. 17
