Dedication Helen Dunning, affectionately known as Ma , has made it possible for kids throughout the years to attend high school and participate in sports by being Dorm matron since 1964. The affection comes from both sides because Helen says that she's enjoyed all the kids and every minute she's been here as matron. Besides being a second mother to hundreds of kids, Helen has been active in Rodeo Club, helping to inspire the members to do well. In 1966 she became the first sponsor to the newly formed Rodeo Club that had only six eager mem- bers, Lucille Dunning, Daniel Burgess, Sam Houston, Richard Clark, John Gibson, and Jerry Twitchell. Since then the Rodeo Club has prospered with many members qualifying for Nationals. After retiring from the Rodeo Club in 1978, Helen was presented with an award to show their appreciation for her many years of dedi- cation. In 1968 she was elected a Justice of the Ffeace. She has performed two weddings, the more recent being Daniel and Donna Burgess' held in the park last summer. Last summer Helen received the Distinguished Service Award presented by tire Jaycees. The Dorm here in Jordan is almost a relic from the past; it is the only public school dorm left in Montana. Helen's good management has had a lot to do with our being able to keep it. BELOW; 1. SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE This 1 979-1 980 school year has been one of my most en- joyable and rewarding school years. Most of my educational experience has been in large school systems, where students do not have the opportunity to experience the close relationships that are developed between students, staff members, and parents, as it exists at Garfield County High School. I believe that our school offers a healthy environment that provides the basis for good sound education. I enjoy being a part of Garfield County High School. 5
