Today we decided to dedicate our annual to Danklefsens. I think it is a neat choice. As long as I can remember they have been right there at the Fair, making it a big success. Mike Danklefsen was bom in Germany in 1882 and came to Garfield County with his wife, Eliza, in the spring of 1912. Eliza was bom in Iowa in 1887. They had two children. Edna, who married Robert Cozzens, had 4 children; Earl, Bernice, Dorthy and Linda. Their son Earl died in 1928. In 1925 they took in Ray and Ella (Tootie) Danklefsen and raised them as their own. In 1951 Mike was elected the first mayor of Jordan. During the eight years that he filled that post, Jordan got city water, a sewer system, R.E.A., a dial telephone and a bank. His deep devotion for helping the town of Jordan has continued on through today, and it is appreciated by all.
